Frequently Asked Questions
“Natural forces within us are the true healers of disease.”

What is Classical Homeopathy?
Classical homeopathy is a method of alternative medicine that looks for a homeopathic remedy with similar symptoms to the client. In taking a remedy with similar symptoms, the body is able to decrease the severity of symptoms that are causing discomfort or challenges to health. Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, the father of homeopathy, discovered that by potentizing substances he could treat his patients effectively in the 1700s and 1800s.
Dianna practices Classical Homeopathy by finding a remedy that is similar to the overall constitution of the client in the spirit of Dr. Hahnemann’s work.
Dianna is not a physician and does not diagnose or treat illnesses. As a homeopath, she seeks to give a remedy that will stimulate each client’s Vital Force to become stronger and react less to stresses in their daily lives.
What can I expect in an initial intake?
Dianna allows one and a half to two and a half hours for the initial intake. She interviews each client in a safe space to understand the health challenges and emotional state by completing a review of symptoms and by talking about the early years of childhood. We look to see if symptoms are more right-sided or left-sided. We discuss food cravings and aversions, as well as other modalities that might point to a remedy.
When taking a child’s case, Dianna first speaks to parents privately, either via telehealth or in her office, to understand their concerns. She then meets the child to ask specific questions. In this way, no child feels badly about any behavioral or physical challenges that she is experiencing.
How does Dianna study cases and find a remedy for client symptoms?
Dianna studied classical homeopathy with Drs. Paul Herscu and Amy Rothenberg who developed a system of homeopathy called Cycles and Segments. They teach a thorough way of analyzing each case by grouping symptoms together into segments and making a cycle to figure out why or how the body creates its symptoms. For example, one person might be born vulnerable; another might feel forsaken. Some people get to their current constitutional state because of a grief, accident, injury or shock. When we understand the reason people’s bodies develop symptoms such as diarrhea or panic attacks, it is easier to find the remedy to support them. By creating a cycle for each client, we select the remedy that has a similar cycle. How are homeopathic remedies made?
Most homeopathic remedies are made from plants and minerals. Some are made from insects or matter from animals. The substance in a remedy is potentized by a homeopathic pharmacy and put on sucrose pellets that enter the body via saliva as they dissolve under the tongue.
What is the Vital Force?
In Chinese Medicine practitioners refer to the Qi of each individual and aim to strengthen the Qi to improve health. In homeopathy we speak of the Vital Force. The remedy aims to strengthen the Vital Force to create a healthier and more balanced life on the physical, emotional and mental planes.
Is there research to show the value of homeopathy?
Homeopathy does not fit into the current research model where one medicine is used to treat an illness. Homeopathy is individualized to fit each client and her symptoms. In order to create more research that shows the benefits of homeopathy, studies have to be created in a different way than pharmaceutical trials to account for the individual manifestation of symptoms. How do I take my remedy?
Drop your pellets under your tongue without touching them, and allow them to dissolve. Instructions on taking homeopathic remedies are included in your intake.
Do I have to avoid coffee and mint? Should I avoid essential oils after taking a remedy?
Although many homeopaths ask their clients to avoid coffee, mint and other products including mint toothpaste, Dianna has found that remedies are strong and usually hold despite coffee and mint.
Dianna does request that clients avoid strong essential oils for a short period after taking a remedy. These oils include menthol and peppermint.
What is a cell salt?
Miranda Castro calls cell salts “Gentle little souls.” Although they are prepared in the same manner as homeopathic remedies, they are not considered to be remedies. Miranda teaches that they are nutritive like homeopathic supplements. They can help with many physical symptoms such as growing pains and teething in children. After constitutional treatment, Dianna frequently recommends cell salts to clients.
Should I take arnica or cell salts during constitutional homeopathy care?
It is better to let the constitutional remedy work initially before taking any other remedy or cell salt. If unsure, please contact Dianna to see if it is a good time to add a remedy to your care.
Does homeopathy help all ailments?
Please schedule a 15-minute free consultation to see if homeopathy can help your symptoms. Although homeopathy is supportive for many symptoms, please seek medical care with a physician to get diagnoses and treatment.
